A Midlands NHS hospital engages the SHS Partners clinical services team to provide additional orthopaedic and endoscopy elective care at one site with two laminar flow theatres.

Solution

Two Orthopaedic surgical teams were deployed, covering 7 days per week. Two Admin teams were established to aid seamless booking and recording PROM data. Two further endoscopy teams covered Saturdays and Sundays.

Case Mix: Elective majors and minors and subsequently covered trauma admissions with an additional two endoscopy unit capacity cover for 9 months.

• 4,550 patients seen over 18 months
• Highest theatre utilisation rate in Trust

• Lowest DNA rates in Trust

• Zero dropped sessions
